Day 4: June 8, 2017

Today we spent the day with pandas in a reservation in Dujiangyan. It was surprisingly really relaxing, and I had a good time. The weather was nice because it rained the night before, so it wasn't too hot or cold, but it was very humid. Right when we got there, we split into two groups, got into a cart, and went up into the panda shelters. We cleaned up each of the pandas' areas that were filled with leftover bamboo and their waste, which surprisingly did not spell that bad, and we cleaned out their cages. Pandas diets usually consume of bamboo, fruits, carrots, and bread made by soybean, egg, oil, and starch. We also had to restock on bamboo shoots, so we got long pieces of bamboo, smashed them onto the ground, and we put it in their little area. We, then, had time to feed and interact with the pandas in their cages. After, we had lunch at noon in the reservation's cafeteria, and we were again served the really good green vegetable with pork with rice. After lunch, we watched a short, moving film about the history of the reservation and their work with pandas, and then went back to another set of pandas and cleaned out their areas. The group and I then went into the Panda kitchen and made panda bread into all shapes, forms, and sizes including pandas, stars, hearts, donuts, and Master Shi Fu in Kung Fu Panda. And dinner was a whole other story. A couple of students and I went to a buffet style hotpot restaurant that was actually really fun and really cheap. We picked a bunch of skewers, and at the very end of the meal, the waiters were trying to see if we had more skewers than we picked out because in total, our meal was 80 yuan. I tried chicken feet for the first time with Georgia and Max because Quinn and Emily love eating it. We, then, went to a bubble tea place at the food court that wasn't good at all, and now my tummy is acting up, so time to take some pepto.

I had so much fun today. There were definitely some memorable moments today. I think my favorite moment of today was dinner. The hotpot experience was definitely interesting.

High: spending time with the pandas
Low: tummy acting up
Shoutout: Emily & Quinn for making me try chicken feet
